Minisymposium at WCCM-ECCOMAS 2026

We helped organise a minisymposium on heterogeneous computing and algorithmic advances for large-scale and scale-resolving simulations at WCCM-ECCOMAS 2026, held in Munich from 19 to 24 July. Kaloyan Kirilov and David Moxey organised it with Henrik Wüstenberg, Spencer Sherwin and Chris Cantwell at Imperial College London.

The session focused on what it actually takes to run direct numerical simulation and large-eddy simulation on GPU-accelerated machines: algorithms suited to multi-GPU architectures, how far solvers scale, load balancing, and processing data in situ rather than writing it all to disk. These are the questions between a method that works and a method that runs at the size the science needs, and they are the same ones driving our own exascale work.
