We hosted the 10th Nektar++ workshop

The 10th annual Nektar++ workshop was held at King’s from 8 to 10 June, in the King’s Building on the Strand Campus, and run as a hybrid event so that people who could not travel could take part.

Three days of talks covered the state of the framework and the science being done with it: updates on the ongoing redesign effort, applications across turbines, wakes and wind energy, solver developments including early GPU performance, the plasma edge in tokamaks, and a closing pair of sessions on meshing, geometry and numerics. Prof. Gregor Gassner (University of Cologne) gave the keynote, on numerical methods, algorithms and software in Trixi.jl.

Three of our Ph.D. students spoke. Ted Stokes presented dynamic r-adaptation of isoparametric boundary layers, Boyang Xia spoke on discontinuous Galerkin Poisson solvers for incompressible flow, and Edward Erasmie-Jones presented CPU and GPU code generation with NektarIR.

The workshop has been running since 2015 and remains the main point in the year where the developers and users of Nektar++ are in the same room. It is open to anyone working with the code, or thinking about starting.
