Inaugural lecture
A really nice milestone as DM gave his inaugural lecture at King’s, Understanding turbulence with supercomputing: a journey in computational engineering, as part of the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences inaugural lecture series. It was a joint event with Prof. Marco Di Renzo, who spoke on Shannon meets Maxwell on the Strand: Quo Vadis, Communication Theory?
An inaugural lecture is a chance to set out how a research programme came to look the way it does, so this one runs from turbulence as a physical problem through to the software and the machines needed to resolve it, which is the thread connecting most of what this group works on. The recording is above, and the inaugural lecture is the first of the two.
